I have based my life on the pursuit of "good", and yet all I have to define it is "the opposite of evil", for there are far to numerous things that can fall into gray areas when you choose to dive into the concept of "good". So I sit here today asking myself, not "what is good", but "how do I better define evil?".
Things that are believed to be evil: a lie, apathy, greed, envy, etc....
The problem is a lie can be used to do good, to spare someones feelings, to prevent a war even (yes I know it's a bit extreme, but not impossible, and has probably happened in the past). And everyone has some degree of apathy towards something, if not we wouldn't be able to function in our daily lives, whether it be to someones feelings or to a theory. So because these things can do good or are used by the good, I must toss aside this standard, for it doesn't suit my needs.
It seems like to most there is a certain line that you can cross, but it also seems to be different in the eyes of different people. But can something as Huge as good and evil be so arbitrary?
